Self Introduction

I had previously spent a semester studying in Tokyo, and I was eager to return. The ICC internship program seemed like the perfect opportunity to return and gain valuable work experience.
My housemates were very kind people. I didn’t get to see much of them, because we all worked on very different schedules. However, when we were able to hang out it was always great fun.
Tokyo is an amazing city, with so much to explore and so much to do. I never felt bored because it is a city that has a lot to offer.

I had a good time working at my company. I worked everyday from 9am to 6pm. I would occasionally accompany my coworkers to meetings and seminars. My main task was to compile research on the American market for five small and medium sized Japanese companies. Everyone at my office was very kind and helpful. I had the chance to speak one-on-one with almost everyone in my office. They were all very willing to help teach me about the company, and Japanese.

The biggest challenge for me was the language barrier. The task I was assigned was time consuming, but not very difficult. The environment made the task more problematic, if I needed any help, or just wanted to take a break and chat, I had to do it almost entirely in Japanese, which was tiresome.
I ultimately overcame the struggle through perseverance.

The only really advice I can offer someone would be to just do it. Take whatever opportunities are offered to them, and try to make the best out of them. Even if it is difficult or they are frightened, they can still get a lot of doing their best in that situation.
