About Internship in Japan

The future of Global education

The Internship in Japan program was founded in 2011, as a branch of ICC Consultants. Since then, we have established hundreds of partnerships with Internship companies, and we continue to welcome more partners on a regular basis.

Working with Universities and individuals from around the world, we provide amazing experiences for young professionals.

Depending on the program, yes.
For the Individual Program (short term internships), we guarantee you an unpaid internship. However, several host companies are offering great perks to the interns such as a refund of the meals, transportation pass, etc. It is decided by the host company on a case-by-case basis and ICC has no control over this.
For our Work & Study program (long term internship + study) most internships are paid

This is not a payment for the internship. You are investing in your future with the professional training program in Japan.

Our program is a full professional course which features a high-end working experience at a company in Japan. This experience is not normally offered and definitely not guaranteed in your field. Our internships are coordinated through a partnership with hundreds of companies throughout Japan.

We provide you with insurance and a 24/7 emergency support, which means we work 24/7 for you. In addition to all of this, we also organize international parties for the participants of the program and the Japanese students we send on internships abroad, so you also get access to free social activities and so much more!

Payments can be made via credit/debit card or international bank transfer.

Please refer to our refund policy below:

Application fee
If the intern cancels within 8 (eight) calendar days of its application, then the application fee will be refunded in full (subtracting banking fees).

Program fee
The intern is eligible for a refund of 50% of the program fee if: The program fee has already been paid to ICC and the intern quits the program for any reason prior to arrival in Japan after accepting the internship offer from a host organization arranged by ICC.
The intern will be liable for 50% of the program fee if the intern quits the program for any reason after confirming their internship offer from a host organization arranged by ICC, prior to arrival in Japan.
The intern will not be eligible for a refund if: He or she withdraws from the program after he or she has arrived in Japan. Or if he or she is terminated after the start of the internship for behavioral reasons.

The insurance covers your medical expenses and personal liability during the duration of the internship. Please contact us if you would like further details.

Note: Work & Study participants will be required to join the National Health Care service in Japan (necessary for all long term residents in Japan), so our insurance coverage is not needed and not provided.

No problem at all! We have many internships where the position requires English only. We also offer Japanese lessons in our Work & Study program. Please refer to our program page for more information.

Anytime is OK. Ideally, we ask you to apply at least 2 to 3 months prior to your expected starting date. We will advise you during our online (zoom) counseling regarding the best time for you to apply.

Note: Work & Study program applications require 6 Months application time due to the longer, student visa process, so please keep this in mind. Exceptions are made for those who are able to get a working holiday visa and bypass this student visa application

We organize an orientation session in our office before you begin your internship with all the interns starting at the same time as you. We also organize networking events with other program participants and Japanese students we send on internships abroad, field trips etc.! If you choose to stay at a shared-house, it will be a great opportunity to make new friends during your time here as well.

Our internship services include finding you an accommodation before you start the internship, so do not worry! Most of our participants choose a shared-house, which is conveniently located for easy access to the internship location. We can also help you to find monthly accommodation.

To avoid this situation, we will talk with you first on Skype so that we can make sure we have opportunities you will like and learn from. If we do not feel confident in our ability to place you for sure, we will tell it clearly to you. Sometimes, for reasons beyond our control, your placement might take longer than expected but we will not give up and continue until you are placed in a great internship.

Japan is a country where the language and culture are totally different from other countries. For some people it might be hard to adjust to a new, overwhelming environment right away. We are here to offer support during your time here in Japan and you can always come and see us in our office or call us if you need to talk to someone.

Most of the positions are in Tokyo, but we do have openings in Osaka, Kyoto and other locations in Japan.

If we did not find a company for you yet, a delay is possible. However, if you are already placed, it will depend on the company to decide if you can start later or not. In both cases we will try to find a solution that suits you best.

We will do our best to find a company that can accept you both, but we cannot guarantee it. However, we can guarantee an internship to each of you.

We recommend using a mobile sim card for your adventure, allowing you to use your phone like you would back home and connect to the net. Regardless, Japan is the perfect place for internet access. Walking down the street, most convenience stores and restaurants have free wifi access so as long as you have a device, you are never too far away from a source and your accommodation is always connected.
